Welcome, I’m Nicola, otherwise known as The Girl with The Green Sofa, named after my now, infamous green, velvet sofa from MADE.com. I’m a colour loving maximalist, and I like to share my passion for colourful interiors, either my own or other homes that have inspired me, throwing in a bit of advice on interior trends and how to use colour in your home, always with an eye on how to make it work for you, rather than the styled photos we often see in magazines.
We are a family of 4, largely male, which in itself represents an interesting interior challenge. Tidy we are not. Juggling a mountain of kids paraphernalia alongside a passion for interiors means there is a constant friction between what looks great from a design point of view, with what works in a real family home. But we are real, and we keep it real, and part of the fun of designing a kid friendly home, is the kids get to join in too.
My interiors hobby and blog, are very much a sanity relief in a very full life. I work as an investor, investing in high technology business and so this creative side balances me, allows me to switch from one side of the brain to the other, after a busy week at work.
And, so this brings me to part of the blog, which is quite untypical for an interior blogger, my focus on telling the stories of creative businesses. The blog brings together a community of small companies, each with their own journey, to inspire you, to learn from.
As a female entrepreneur, now turned investor, I am passionate about creating a place to go to for advice, so that you can learn from others worts and all.
If you are starting out with a creative business, I look at business advice, and my creative spotlights focus on "what they wished they had known, starting out" "what went wrong and right" along with guidance on what you might need to know, so you can focus on the creative bit that you do best!
